The 1905 Craftsman PRoject Full renovation

St. Joseph, Missouri · c.1905 · 2,344 sq ft · 4 BD · 2 BA · 1.84 acres

Built in 1905, this four-bedroom craftsman had everything worth saving — original hardwood floors, rich dark woodwork, a sweeping covered front porch, and nearly two acres of land tucked into one of St. Joseph's most storied neighborhoods. What it needed was someone willing to honor all of it while bringing the rest fully into the present.

That's exactly what Blackstone did.

Room by room, we worked through the home with a design-first approach: restoring what was original, replacing what had aged past saving, and adding deliberate modern touches that feel like they belong. The result is a home that reads as historic from the street and feels genuinely elevated the moment you step inside.

The foyer sets the tone immediately — refinished hardwood floors, original dark trim restored to a deep luster, and a brass multi-globe chandelier that bridges the gap between 1905 and now. The living room followed suit: blush walls, original oversized windows kept intact, and a furniture plan that lets the architecture breathe.

The kitchen received a full transformation. Custom sage green shaker cabinetry wraps the room floor to ceiling, anchored by a statement range hood finished to match. White quartz countertops, a white picket tile backsplash, and brushed gold hardware keep the palette feeling fresh without losing the home's warmth.

The primary bath may be the most thoughtful room in the house. A clawfoot soaking tub painted in dusty blue sits center stage on classic penny tile floors with black floral accents. A deep blue tiled shower, brass fixtures, and a console vanity round out a bathroom that feels pulled from a boutique hotel — one with genuine history.

Upstairs, the primary bedroom is quiet and grounded. Dark hardwood floors, warm amber lamp light, and a layout built around rest. Nothing overwrought. Just a room that does exactly what a bedroom should.
